In a small bowl mix together the flour, salt, and pepper; pour over meat, and stir to coat meat with flour mixture. Stir in the garlic, bay leaf, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, onion, beef broth, potatoes, carrots, and celery. Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker and stir round to make sure everything is nicely mixed together. Add gravy granules or cornflour at this stage to thicken up even more.

Add a little at a time. It will thicken as the roux cooks & be careful not to change the flavors.

Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker and stir round to make sure everything is nicely mixed together. Add gravy granules or cornflour at this stage to thicken up even more. Take the beef and season with salt and pepper to taste. Brown on all sides in a large frying pan over high heat. Place in the slow cooker and add the soup mix, water, carrots, onion, potatoes and celery.
